ABOUT PERF
Learn about us
The Pacific Endodontic Research Foundation (PERF) is a public, nonprofit research foundation dedicated
to teaching and research in endodontics.
We were formed in 1988 and have moved 3 times as our mission has changed over the years. We
started initially as a pure research foundation utilizing fresh human cadaver material and we introduced
the microscopic approach into endodontics as well as ultrasonic techniques into mainstream
endodontics.
We are currently doing basic research into biofilms and chronic Apical Periodontitis and applied research
into CBCT imaging, bone graft tissue materials, and endodontic failure.
The foundation is supported solely by grants and personal gifts from Dr. Carr, charitable donations from
corporations as well as donations from private endodontists.
